CLAREMONT, Calif. – The No. 10 ranked Pomona-Pitzer men's tennis team defeated Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference opponent Chapman 9-0 on Saturday afternoon at the Pauley Tennis Complex.
The Sagehens started out to a 3-0 lead as they swept the doubles competition with Graham Maassen and Spencer Simonides getting a win in the No. 1 doubles match by the score of 8-6.
Kalyan Chadalavada and Josh Kim followed that up with a win in the No. 2 doubles match 8-6 and Josh Gearou and Sam Gearou capped off the doubles with a win in the No. 3 match by the score of 8-2.
The Sagehens also won all six of the singles matches with Jonathan Kim winning in the No. 1 singles 6-0, 6-7, 10-4 and Sam Malech won in the No. 2 match by the score of 3-6, 6-3, 10-6.
Kim also won his singles match in the No. 3 spot by the score of 6-0, 6-0 and Marko Mandic won in the No. 4 singles with a 6-2, 6-1 victory.
Simonides took a win in the No. 5 singles as he defeated his opponent 6-4, 6-2 and Josh Gearou ended the day with a win in the No, 6 singles by the score of 6-0, 6-0.
The Sagehens next hit the court as they host Caltech and UC Santa Cruz on Saturday, April 9th at 10:00 a.m.
