Men's Tennis: No. 8 Sagehens Fall To No. 14 Williams 5-4

CLAREMONT, Calif. – The No. 8 ranked Pomona-Pitzer men's tennis team fell to No. 14 Williams 5-4 on Wednesday afternoon at the Pauley Tennis Complex.

Williams got ahead 2-1 after the doubles competition as they found wins at the No. 2 and No. 3 doubles matches. The Sagehens earned a win at the No. 1 doubles as junior Graham Maassen and junior Spencer Simonides won their match 8-7

The Sagehens got their first singles win in the No. 2 spot as junior Jake Yasgoor defeated his opponent 6-3, 6-1.

Maassen took the second win of the day for the Sagehens in the No. 1 singles match by the score of 6-1, 6-4 and sophomore Sam Malech won his match in the No. 4 singles by the score of 6-4, 6-2.

Williams got the clinch in the No. 3 singles as Grodecki defeated senior Jonathan Kim 6-2, 5-7, 7-5 to give Williams the upset win over Pomona-Pitzer.

The Sagehens next take the court as they host Stevens on Friday, March 25th at 10:00 a.m. at the Pauley Tennis Complex.
