Men's Swimming and Diving: Sagehens Drop First SCIAC Meet To CMS 174-124

CLAREMONT, Calif. – The Pomona-Pitzer men's swimming and diving team suffered their first loss in conference play to the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Stags 174-124 on Saturday afternoon at Haldeman Pool.

The Sagehens started off the swimming events with a win in the 200 Yard Medley Relay with the team of sophomore Samuel To, freshman Teddy Koerner, junior Danny Villars and senior Phillip Clayman clocking in with a time of 1:32.90.

Freshman Jack Swanson followed that up with a win in the 1,000 Yard Freestyle coming in at 9:52.56.

Koerner won his first individual event of the day in the 100 Yard Breaststroke with a time of 57.59. Clayman then came in first place in the 50 Yard Freestyle clocking in at 21.12.

To took first place in the 100 Yard Fly with a time of 50.88, which was just .01 faster than his opponent Matt Valentine who clocked in at 50.89.

The Sagehens move to 10-2 on the year in dual meets this season and finish the regular season with a 7-1 SCIAC record.

Pomona-Pitzer next travels to La Mirada Splash for the SCIAC Championships beginning on Thursday, February 18th. Prelims will take place at 9 a.m. and the finals will start at 5 p.m.
