Claremont, Calif. - Pomona-Pitzer's women's basketball team kept it close in the fourth quarter, but Willamette pulled away late to win, 67-64, in the second game of the David Wells Classic in the Linde Center at Harvey Mudd College. Pomona-Pitzer drops to 1-4 on the season, while Willamette improves to 3-1. 

Basha Brulee-Wills led Pomona-Pitzer with 22 points on 9-14 shooting, while Alaina Woo (pictured) added 12 and Melissa Hooke added 10. Amelia Hummel grabbed nine rebounds to lead the Sagehens. 

Pomona-Pitzer shot out to a quick 5-0 lead on two quick baskets from Alaina Woo (pictured), one a long-range three-pointer to open the game. But Willamette came back to lead, 28-21, after one period, and the Bearcats extended their lead to 47-37 at the half. Pomona-Pitzer came out in the third period and narrowed the Willamette lead throughout, finally tying the game, 53-53, at the end of the third quarter after Basha Brulee-Wills hit a tough shot, got fouled, and connected on the free throw. Pomona-Pitzer outscored Willamette, 16-6, in the third quarter. In the fourth, stayed close, but Willamette held a slim lead throughout.

Pomona-Pitzer outshot Willamette from the field, hitting 26-63 FGs (41.3%) to Willamette's 20-51 FGs (39.2%), but Willamette connected on 10-22 from three-point range, while the Sagehens hit only 4-15.

Pomona-Pitzer hosts Wheaton (IL) Saturday, December 5, and then hosts La Sierra on Thursday, Dec. 10 before academic finals and a short semester break.
