Box Score Thousand Oaks, Calif. - Senior All-American Allie Frappier had 25 kills and 25 digs, but Cal Lutheran was able to protect its home court and take a 3-1 win over the Sagehens on Saturday evening.
Set scores were 25-15, 15-25, 25-21, 25-17 as Cal Lutheran improves to 12-1 overall and 1-0 in the SCIAC. The Sagehens slip to 7-5 overall and 1-2 in conference play.
Frappier had 32 kills last year at Cal Lutheran in a five-set match, before the Regals went on to come up just short of a national championship, losing the title game in five sets. She took 65 swings in this visit to Thousand Oaks, tallying 25 kills over four sets and adding a team-high 25 digs.
Cal Lutheran also had a big day from its top hitter, as Michelle Lawrence had 22 kills in 60 attempts. The Regals were able to find a couple other options as well as Hope Stewart had 10 kills and Sarah Pappas added nine. Ellen Yamasaki was second on the Sagehens with six kills, while Michelle Schultz had 22 digs. Kelli Derrah and Samantha Cahill each had five blocks.
Pomona-Pitzer returns to action on Friday when it hosts Occidental at 7:30 p.m.
