Thousand Oaks, Calif. - The Pomona-Pitzer Men's Tennis team played top-ranked CMS tough in doubles, but the Stags were able to take all three decisions and went on from there to a 9-0 win in the championship match of the SCIAC Tournament on Saturday.
Jonathan Kim and Sam Crawford went to a tiebreaker at No. 2 doubles before falling 9-8, while Chris Wiechert/Anthony Bello and Graham Maassen/Connor Hudson each fell 8-6 at No. 1 and No. 3.
Wiechert (pictured) won the first set at No. 2 singles for the Sagehens before falling in three, while Bello also dropped a three-setter at No. 6.
Pomona-Pitzer entered the SCIAC Tournament ranked No. 10 nationally and picked up a key win over No. 18 Cal Lutheran in the semifinals, which should put the Sagehens in excellent shape for an NCAA Division III bid.
