Claremont, Calif. - The Pomona-Pitzer Men's Tennis team swept doubles and cruised from there for an 8-1 win over the University of Chicago on Monday afternoon. 

With the win, Pomona-Pitzer, ranked No. 16 nationally, improves to 8-3 on the season, while Chicago sees its record fall to 5-5.

The doubles team of sophomores Jonathan Kim (pictured, serving) and Sam Crawford (foreground) moved up a line to No. 2 and produced an 8-6 win, improving their winning streak to 10 matches since an opening day loss to Bates. Senior Chris Wiechert and sophomore Anthony Bello produced an 8-5 win at No. 1 doubles, and junior Kevin Wei and freshman Spencer Simonides won a tiebreaker for a 9-8 win at No. 3. 

Although Chicago won the first singles match at No. 4, where Brian Sun earned a 6-0, 6-2 win, the Sagehens won the first set at the other five courts and were able to quickly clinch. Chris Wiechert, Jake Yasgoor and Connor Hudson won their matches at No. 1, 2 and 3 in quick succession, with Yasgoor's 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 2 the most dominant of the three. Wiechert earned a 6-2, 6-2 win at No. 1, and Hudson captured a 6-4, 6-2 win at No. 3.

There were some dramatic matches at the bottom of the ladder, as Jonathan Kim pulled out a 7-5, 6-4 win at No. 5, and Michael Chang earned an 11-9 win in a third-set tiebreaker at No. 6 to complete an 8-1 win.

Pomona-Pitzer is back in action tomorrow for a tough match up against No. 2 Williams, beginning at 4 p.m.
