Claremont, Calif. - The Pomona-Pitzer Women's Swimming and Diving team improved to 5-1 in dual meets with a 207-89 win over Caltech on Saturday.
The victory improves the Sagehens to 4-1 in SCIAC meets, as well as 5-1 overall, including a non-conference win over Lewis & Clark. The only defeat came at CMS in December.
Pomona-Pitzer dominated the individual swimming events, as the Sagehens only losses came in the 100-yard and 200-yard freestyle, where its top competitor, sophomore Alex Lincoln, did not compete. Lincoln instead competed in the 50-yard backstroke, where she finished in first with a time of 29.33.
Freshman Chrissie Alving-Trinh (pictured) won the 1000-yard freestyle, edging out teammate Julia Ticus. Freshman Nola Shi came in first in the 500-yard freestyle, while freshman Vicky Gyorffy earned first place in the 50-yard freestyle.
Freshman Jackie Tran helped the Sagehens sweep the two backstroke events by finishing in first in the 100-yard. Freshman Hannah Robertson won the 50-yard breaststroke, and junior Sarah Tuggy earned the 100-yard to give Pomona-Pitzer a sweep of those two events, while sophomore Maddy DeMeules (50) and junior Charlotte Dohrn (100) won the two butterfly events. Freshman Gailyn Portelance also added a win in the 400-yard individual medley in the final individual eventf the meet.
Pomona-Pitzer wil be back in action on Saturday when it hosts its final dual meet of the season against La Verne at 10:30 a.m.
