Redlands, Calif. - Sophomore Alex Lincoln finished in first place in the 100-meter freestyle at the Redlands Pentathlon on Saturday afternoon.
Lincoln crossed the finish line first with a time of 53.98, while two of her teammates came in close behind in third and fourth place. Vicky Gyorffy was the third-place finisher with a time of 55.93, while Nola Shi was fourth at 56.45.
Shi finished in the top 10 in all four events, as she was seventh in the 100-meter butterfly with a time of 1:02.93, eighth in the backstroke with a time of 1:04.76, and fourth in the breaststroke with a time of 1:10.84.
Gailyn Portelance was the top Sagehen in the butterfly at 1:02.76, good for fifth in the competition, followed by Kelsey Atkinson in sixth place at 1:02.82. Lincoln had the top time in the backstroke for the Sagehens in fourth place, while Jackie Tran was seventh (1:04.40), Shi was eighth and Portelance was ninth (1:04.90).
Right behind Shi in the breaststroke was Mari Pettibone, who came in fifth place at 1:12.43.
The Sagehens will be back in action next week when the diving team travels to Redlands.
