For the fourth weekend in a row, the Sagehens took on a SCIAC foe in preparation for the SCIAC Championships. This time they defeated the Poets of Whittier College 174-83, moving their record on the year to 4-2 with one meet remaining.
Freshmen divers Tyler Oe, Jacob Weber and Taylor Beckwith-Ferguson finished 1-2-3 on both boards to help stake the Sagehens to an early lead. Opening up the swimming portion of the meet with a season-best time of 1:40.40 was the 200 Medley Relay of junior Max Scholten, senior Andrew Kinimaka, sophomore Tommy DePaoli and junior Joe LaBriola. Freshman Brian Wysolmerski followed up the performance of the medley relay with his own victory in the 1650 free with a season-best time of 18:04.01. Joe LaBriola, sophomore J.P. Cumming and junior Vincent Giannotti all went season-best times going 1-2-3 in the 200 freestyle. Max Scholten swam to first place while breaking his own pool record by swimming a season-best 52.07 in the 100 backstroke and was followed by freshman Gabe Leggott in a season best 58.88 which was good for 3rd.
Andrew Kinimaka took 1st in the 100 breast in a season-best 1:03.50 while junior Chris Wright, Tommy DePaoli and senior Erik Peterson went 1-2-3 in the 200 fly. Scholten swam to a close victory over Chris Evans of Whittier in the 50 free, winning in 21.91 to Evans' 21.99. Senior Matt Ward took his 100 free out in a strong 23.78 and finished strong to seal the victory in a season-best 50.09. Scholten again took first place in the 200 backstroke, this time cruising to a victory, followed by Gabe Leggott and sophomore Cody Moore who finished 2-3.
J.P. Cumming, Joe LaBriola and Brian Wysolmerski went 1-2-3 in the 500 free with Cumming and Wysolmerski swimming to season best times of 5:01.00 and 5:11.99. After finishing 1-2-3 earlier in the 200 fly, Tommy DePaoli, Erik Peterson and Chris Wright finished 1-2-3 again in the 100 fly. Andrew Kinimaka won his second individual event of the day, taking the 200 IM in 2:07.30.
