Gorlak Defense Too Much For Sagehens

During the time of year when most college students prepare for celebrations for the New Year, the Pomona-Pitzer Women's Basketball team remained in Claremont, prepping for a hard battle with the Gorloks of Webster University.

Fresh off a win against Sagehen SCIAC foe Whittier Poets, the Lady Gorloks employed a powerful pressure defense that forced the Hens into 23 turnovers, one of their highest totals this season.

The Sagehens endured the suffocating defense during the first half and were able to go into the break with only a two point deficit.

The second half of the game told a different story, however. The mighty Gorlok defense overwhelmed a shorthanded Sagehen team that only saw action from eight players. The Gorloks rotated players early and often to keep fresh legs on the court. The Sagehens never got the engine running after the break and fell to the Gorloks 70-46.

The Sagehens were led by guard Neha Savant PO '14, who led the Hens with 13 points to go along with three steals and two assists.
