Biography

At Pomona-Pitzer: Completed her third season as a member of the Pomona-Pitzer Tennis team, where she is a two-time All-American in doubles.

2015: All-American (doubles)...First-team All-SCIAC...SCIAC All-Academic team...ITA Scholar-Athlete selection...Played No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles for the Sagehens...National qualifier in doubles (with Grace Hruska) after reaching the regional finals of the Fall ITA Championships, finishing the year ranked No. 10 in the nation to earn All-America honors for the second time...Went 7-0 to start the spring in doubles, with wins over No. 2 Emory, No. 6 Bowdoin and No. 7 Carnegie Mellon before suffering first loss in a tieberaker against No. 4 Amherst...Had a 6-10 record in singles, including 4-2 in SCIAC matches in the regular season...Also earned a win over No. 13 MIT.

2014: All-American (doubles)...Second-team All-SCIAC...SCIAC All-Academic team...ITA Scholar-Athlete selection...Reached the national semifinals in doubles (with Sammy Chao) at both the NCAA Division III Championships in the spring and the Fall ITA Nationals...Beat the No. 1 doubles seed in the field (from Mary Washington) at the NCAA Championships in three sets...Finished the year with an 18-9 record in doubles (23-10 including the Fall ITA Championships) and an 11-4 record in singles, missing several matches in singles with an injury...Picked up singles wins against No. 6 Middlebury and No. 8 Carnegie Mellon...Added doubles wins against Middlebury, Carnegie Mellon, No. 7 Johns Hopkins and No. 7 Bowdoin.

2013: Had a 17-4 record in doubles (with Arthi Padmanabhan), including 10 straight wins to close out the year...Also had a 10-4 mark in singles (5-1 in SCIAC)...Earned a 6-0, 6-0 win over Redlands in the SCIAC semifinals and a 6-1, 6-1 win over Redlands in a rematch in the NCAA West Regional semifinals...Picked up a three-set win in singles against No. 9 Middlebury, 10-8 in the third-set tiebreaker...Began the year with six straight doubles wins, then won last 10 after a 1-4 stretch mid year (with three losses to top 10 teams)...Earned 8-3, 8-1 and 8-2 wins in the SCIAC Tournament and 8-1 and 8-5 wins in the NCAA Regionals.

High School: Attended Sunny Hills High School in Fullerton, where she was a member of the tennis team…Named MVP of the Lancers all four years…Reached the Round of 16 in the CIF Individual Doubles championships, after earning the doubles championship in her league…Also a league singles finalist…Served as team captain and was named the Sunny Hills High School Athlete of the Week…AP Scholar with Distinction…Named to Principal’s High Honor Roll and earned the Foreign Language Award for French…Also earned her school’s Scholar-Athlete Award.

Personal: Attending Pomona College, where she majors in cognitive science, with a particular interest in the effect of language on cognition and memory, as well as exploring the conscious mind…Lists "Memory, Language, and Brain" with Professor Burke as the most interesting course she has taken at Pomona...Has one sister…Spent the summer (2015) working at Explo, a summer school hosted on Yale University's campus, teaching Social Psychology and Tennis...Favorite books are Because of Winn-Dixie, and Crime and Punishment, and favorite movies are Easy A, the Star Wars series, Thor, Iron Man, Avengers, and New York, I Love You…Lists Grigor Dimitrov, Gael Monfils, and Pomona-Pitzer alumni Jamie Solomon and Samantha Chao as her favorite athletes...Spent the summer of 2014 working at Nike Tennis Camp in Santa Cruz, a weekly overnight tennis camp with fun activities (alongside coaches Drew and Sammy)...Works for the Athletics Department doing events management, runs a blog for the women's tennis team, and is a member of SAAC (Student-Athlete Committee) and QQAMP (Queer, Questioning, and Allied Mentor Program)...Hopes to enter grad school for sports psychology after graduation...Hobbies include watching other home sporting events, making food (especially guacamole), road-tripping to San Francisco once or twice a year, Brush Calligraphy, and playing the piano...Chose Pomona “because of the excellent academics as well as top-notch DIII tennis team.
