Biography

At Pomona-Pitzer: Completed his sophomore season as a member of the Pomona-Pitzer Men’s Swimming and Diving team, where he competes in the middle-distance and distance freestyle events…2014-15: SCIAC All-Academic team...Finished 10th at the SCIAC Championships in the 1650 with a 16:58.51...Also 12th at SCIAC Championships in the 500-yard freestyle with a 4:45.90...Part of an 800-free relay team that won the consolation heat at SCIACs by just .04...2013-14: SCIAC All-Academic team...Earned a top 10 finish in the 1650 at the SCIAC Championships with a 17:07.70, good for ninth place...Also finished 14th in the 200 (1:46.18) and 18th in the 500 with a 4:53.92... 2012-13: Earned a top 10 finish in the SCIAC Championships in the 1650, clocking a 16:51.42 (10th), which was almost a minute faster than his previous high coming in...Also competed in the 500 freestyle at the SCIAC Championships, swimming a 4:47.99 (15th place), and in the 200, swimming a 1:45.90 (12th place).

High School: Attended Laguna Blanca High School in Santa Barbara, where he competed on the swimming team for the Owls…A CIF finalist in the 200 free and 500 free in both his junior and senior seasons…Member of the Cum Laude society, while also earning an Honors Award and a College Board AP Scholar award…Also swam for the Santa Barbara Swim Club, where he competed in the Junior Olympics in 2011 and 2012…Earned a Winter Age Group championship in 2011, and a June Age Group championship in 2012.

Personal: Attending Pomona College, where he majors in chemistry with a minor in computer science...Has a particular interest in chemical engineering and materials...Lists "Organic Chemistry" and "Geohazards" as the most interesting courses he has taken while at Pomona...Spent the summer of 2015 participating in a 10-week internship in the Netherlands doing biomedical materials research in the Meijer Group, assisting assisted in the synthesis and characterization of self-assembling, supramolecular polymers that are ideal candidates for a synthetic extracellular matrix...Spent the summer (2014) working at the Materials Research Lab at UCSB, developing a method for synthesis and purification of specific length polymers, to be characterized in their abilities as a dispersing agent...Has one brother and one sister…Lists hiking and going to the beach among his hobbies…Ryan Lochte is his favorite athlete…Plans to pursue a graduate degree in materials science...Chose Pomona for “the great academics and natural social atmosphere.”
