RJ Maki

RJ Maki has held the role of receivers coach on the Pomona-Pitzer staff since 2018. He previously held the wide receiver coach role in 2011 as a graduate student and again from 2014-2016.

Maki had a standout career with the Sagehens as a player, setting Pomona-Pitzer records for career total receptions (256) and receiving yards (3,070). He also holds single season records for receptions (93) and receiving yards (1,219). Maki finished third in the nation in receptions per game (10.1) and second in the nation in receiving yards per game (135.4) as a junior. As a senior, Maki led all of NCAA Division III in receptions per game (10.3). 

Following his senior season, he was selected to play in the D3 Senior Classic game in Salem, Virginia and the NCAA Division III Tazon de Estrellas All-Star game in Mexico.  He was named to the All-SCIAC team three times in his career. As a senior, he received the John Zinda award from the SCIAC for scholarship, sportsmanship and leadership.

In addition to his numerous football accolades, Maki was a four-year member of the Pomona-Pitzer Men's Basketball team, helping the Sagehens to a conference title in 2008.

Off the field, Maki was named a National Football Foundation Hampshire Honor Society Scholar-Athlete. He graduated from Pomona College in 2011 with a degree in sociology and earned his master’s in business administration at the Drucker School of Management.
