Michale Spicer joined the Pomona-Pitzer Football Coaching Staff in 2017 as the defensive line coach and special teams coordinator.

In his time as the Sagehens defensive line coach and special teams coordinator, Spicer has coached multiple First and Second-Team All-SCIAC Defensive Lineman and two First-Team All-SCIAC Specialists. Additionally, Nick DelBiaggio and Ethan Norris were named to all-region teams (2nd and 3rd teams, respectively) in their senior seasons – highlighting the culmination of their talent and development under Spicer’s tutelage. In 2023, Spicer coached Cam Shirangi to a dual All-American selection as both punter (1st team) and kicker (2nd team), the first student-athlete to ever receive such honors.

Spicer had a storied college career at Western Carolina University, winning All-American and First-Team All-Southern Conference honors in 2002 and 2003. His 2003 year saw further notoriety, being named Top Defender in the Southern Conference by Streets and Smiths Magazine and was a member of the Dean’s List in 2003.

Spicer spent his professional playing career across the National Football League (NFL), United Football League (UFL) and Arena Football League (AFL) as a defensive lineman. He was All-UFL First Team in 2010. During his stint in the AFL, he won Team Defensive Lineman of the Year in 2008 for the New Orleans Voodoo and All-AFL Rookie Team honors.

Previously, Spicer coached at Bishop Montgomery High School from 2010-2014 as the Defensive Line Coach and Special Teams Coordinator. He helped the Knights to four-straight CIF playoffs berths and had four All-League Defensive Linemen during his tenure.
