At Pomona-Pitzer: Completed her third year at Pomona-Pitzer Cross Country and Track and Field teams...High School: Attended James Madison Memorial High School in Madison, Wisconsin...Competed in swimming for four years and track for two years for the Spartans...Was a swim team captain in 2008...Earned all-state and All-American honors for her performance at the Division I Wisconsin State High School swim meet in 2007 (sixth in breast stroke, third in medley relay)...Graduated with high honors...Member of the National Honors Society...Also a member of the Madison West YMCA Waves, where she qualified for the YMCA Nationals in 2007...Personal: Attending Pomona College, where she majors in environmental analysis and studio art...Mother is a research scientist...Has two brothers...Hobbies include yoga, baking, reading food blogs and camping/hiking...Favorite movie is (500) Days Of Summer...Favorite book (at the moment) is Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close (Jonathan Safran Foer)...Lists Cities by Nature (with Professor Char Miller) and Installation Art (with Professor Michael O'Malley) as the most interesting courses she has taken at Pomona...Hopes to be a teacher after graduation (possibly a high school art teacher)...Has volunteered as an 11-12 swim coach for a summer league team, which she found very rewarding...Traveled to Germany this past summer (2012) "to present a project in Bonn at the 5th Living Knowledge Conference with a fellow cross country runner!  I spent the rest of my summer back home in Madison coaching the 11-12's age group at the local swim team and interning at the Goodman Youth Grow Local Farm, working with low income children, bringing them outside to connect with the process of growing food locally and sustainably."...Would recommend Pomona because "I love the community feel here and the friendliness amongst students, professors and staff.
