Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 CLAREMONT, Calif. — Pomona-Pitzer women's volleyball closed out the Pacific Coast Classic with a pair of wins over Gordon College (25-22, 23-25, 25-20, 25-23) and Western New England (25-13, 25-18, 27-25) Saturday at Voelkel Gym. 

Season Impact: The wins put the Sagehens at 3-2 on the season. 

Sagehens 3, Gordon 1

Kayla Thienprasiddhi led all hitters with 24 kills on a .367 clip, also adding six digs and a block. CC Porter contributed 11 kills, a pair of blocks and a pair of digs while Anna Krebs and Ella Mesard each posted seven kills. Corrina Benson notched 23 digs and five service aces while Paige Butler dished out 34 assists. 

The Sagehens prevailed in a close set one, coming back from a 20-18 deficit late. Kills from Thienprasiddhi and Porter followed by a Benson ace put Pomona-Pitzer up one, 21-20. Another Thienprasiddhi kill and a Gordon attack error gave the Sagehens set one, 25-22. 

Gordon responded with a 25-23 set two win to tie the match at 1-1. But Pomona-Pitzer came out strong in set three, taking a 16-8 advantage after kills from Mesard and Thienprasiddhi. A Porter kill and an Alena Yang ace later gave the Sagehens a 22-17 lead. A late kill from Mesard and a pair of Gordon attack errors led Pomona-Pitzer to the 25-20 set three win. 

After the Sagehens took a 20-15 lead late in set four, Gordon used a 4-0 run to come within a point, 20-19. Gordon later took a 22-21 lead after a 3-0 run. But Pomona-Pitzer managed to seal the deal, using a 3-0 run of their own with kills from Porter, Thienprasiddhi and Mesard to take the 25-23 set four win and the match victory, 3-1. 

Sagehens 3, WNEU 0

Thienprasiddhi again led all hitters with 20 kills on a .429 hitting percentage, also adding four digs and a solo block. Mesard contribued eight kills and five digs while Porter had seven kills.  Benson notched 14 digs while Butler dished out 26 assists. 

Pomona-Pitzer ran away with the opening set, leading 20-11 after a kill from Porter. Theinprasiddhi, Matsa Shi and Krebs each tallied kills as a 5-0 Sagehen run closed out a 25-13 set one win. The Sagehens again led 21-13 late in set number two after a kill from Makayla Sheffer. Nicole Rabadi and Maddie Tately posted kills late, then a block from Greta Klinkmann and Alex Besteman gave Pomona-Pitzer a 25-18 set two win. 

Set three remained close throughout, with a Thienprasiddhi kill and a Sophia Scholz service ace giving the Sagehens a 22-19 advantage. The Golden Bears came back to tie the set at 22, before teams traded points. Mesard posted a kill before a Sagehen attack error tied the game at 25. Pomona-Pitzer finished strong, as kills from Scholz and Besteman closed out the 27-25 set win and the 3-0 match sweep. 

Up Next: The Sagehens will take on Puget Sound and Pacific University in the Whittier Invite next Friday, Sept. 11, at home.
