THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. — Pomona-Pitzer women's volleyball fell in four sets (14-25, 25-14, 18-25, 11-25) to Hardin-Simmons Saturday to close out the Cal Lutheran Invite.
Season Impact: The loss puts the Sagehens at 6-6 on the season.
Anna Krebs led the Pomona-Pitzer attack with nine kills on a .333 clip, while
Ella Mesard and
CC Porter each tallied seven kills.
Charlotte Sekerka added six on a .357 percentage.
Paige Butler dished out a team-high 18 assists and
Corrina Benson posted 13 digs.
Hardin-Simmons took a 1-0 match lead after taking the opening set, 25-14, despite a late kill from Thienprasiddhi and two from Krebs. The Sagehens tied the match at 1-1 after a dominant second set. Kills from Krebs, Porter,
Makayla Sheffer and Mesard fueled a late 4-0 run to put Pomona-Pitzer up 21-11. Another Porter kill and a Hardin-Simmons service error gave the Sagehens set two, 25-14.
Trailing 23-15 late in set three, Krebs and Mesard traded kills to bring the Sagehens within five, 23-18. But two straight points from Hardin-Simmons gave the Cowgirls set three, 25-18. Hardin-Simmons then sealed its four-set match win with a 25-11 victory in the fourth.
