CLAREMONT, Calif. — Pomona-Pitzer women's volleyball picked up a pair of wins Friday at Voelkel Gym, defeating Puget Sound (25-16, 25-23, 15-25, 25-19) before getting past Pacific (25-17, 25-16, 21-25, 18-25, 15-10).
Season Impact: The wins put the Sagehens at 5-2 on the season.

Kayla Thienprasiddhi led all hitters with 12 kills and six digs, while
Anna Krebs added eight kills and
CC Porter had seven.
Charlotte Sekerka and
Ella Mesard each contributed six kills.
Matsa Shi recorded three aces and 10 digs,
Corrina Benson posted 19 digs, and
Paige Butler and
Sophie Mies each finished with 16 assists.
The Sagehens pulled away from an 8-8 tie in set one, using a 9-0 run that included kills from Thienprasiddhi and an ace from Shi to take a 17-8 lead. Pomona-Pitzer maintained its advantage and closed out the set 25-16.
Puget Sound took an early lead in set two, but the Sagehens battled back to tie the set at 21-21. Thienprasiddhi put Pomona-Pitzer ahead with a kill at 22-21, then answered each of the Loggers' next two points with kills before finishing the set with another kill from Butler for the 25-23 win.
Shi opened set three with two straight aces, but Puget Sound responded with a 6-0 run to take the lead. The Loggers continued to build their advantage, taking a 21-13 lead before closing out a 25-15 win.
Pomona-Pitzer answered in set four, racing out to a 16-9 advantage. Puget Sound battled back to within two at 19-17, but the Sagehens responded to regain control and finished with a 25-19 win to take the match 3-1.

Thienprasiddhi again led Pomona-Pitzer with 13 kills, while Shi added 12 kills and 20 digs.
Alex Besteman had seven kills on a .462 hitting percentage, and
Makayla Sheffer contributed six kills. Benson recorded a match-high 25 digs and three aces, while Butler finished with 29 assists.
The Sagehens turned a 9-9 tie into a 13-9 lead in the opening set, getting kills from Sekerka and Thienprasiddhi along with an ace from Shi. Pomona-Pitzer extended its advantage and went on to win 25-17.
Pomona-Pitzer controlled set two from the start, scoring the first four points and building a 13-4 advantage. Pacific cut into the deficit, but the Sagehens held their lead and closed out the set 25-16.
Pacific rallied in set three after Pomona-Pitzer built a 16-10 lead. The Boxers used a 7-0 run to take a 17-16 advantage, then held on late for a 25-21 win.
The Boxers carried the momentum into set four, using a 10-0 run to turn a 14-8 deficit into an 18-14 lead. Pomona-Pitzer cut the margin to 21-18, but Pacific scored the final four points to force a fifth set with a 25-18 win.
Pomona-Pitzer took control of the deciding set early, building a 6-2 lead. Pacific battled back to make it 8-7, but the Sagehens responded with a late run to pull away. Kills from Besteman, Shi and Thienprasiddhi helped Pomona-Pitzer close out the 15-10 win and secure the five-set victory.
