CLAREMONT, Calif. — No. 2 seed Pomona-Pitzer baseball defeated No. 3 Redlands 11-1 in seven innings Thursday to open 2026 SCIAC Tournament play. The Sagehens now enter the winners bracket and will host No. 4 seed La Verne tomorrow, Friday, May 8, at 3:00 p.m. PT.
Landon Hu led the Sagehen bats with three RBI, going 2-of-3 from the plate with a solo shot in the sixth.
Peter Savas and
Tanner DeGrazia both notched two RBI apiece.
Max Brunngraber (9-1) earned the win from the mound, going the full 7.0 innings with seven strikeouts and just one run.
Pomona-Pitzer got on the board first with an RBI single from DeGrazia in the fourth. Hu then posted a two-run single as the Sagehens led 3-0. Two innings later, Hu blasted his solo shot to center field, giving Pomona-Pitzer a 4-0 advantage.
The Bulldogs got a run back in the top of the seventh with a solo homer from Jesse Bullard. But the Sagehens responded with seven runs in the bottom of the frame to seal the 11-1 run-rule victory. DeGrazia tallied an RBI on a fielder's choice to shortstop to start the scoring before
Jack Gold hit an RBI double.
Greg Pierantoni had an RBI single before
Will Parker tacked on an RBI hit-by-pitch and
Kai Gonzaga drew a bases-loaded walk. Savas ended the game with a two-out RBI double.
