ORANGE, Calif. — The Pomona-Pitzer softball team outlasted Chapman 2-0 Friday in game one of the two teams' three-game series.
Season Impact: The win puts the Sagehens at 11-15 on the season, including 4-3 in SCIAC play.

Natalie Murguia drove home Pomona-Pitzer's only two runs, with Liu going 2-of-3 from the plate.
Nyla Springer earned the win from the mound after pitching a complete game shutout and allowing just four hits.
After a scoreless first two innings, Liu put the Sagehens on the board in the top of the third with an RBI single through the left side. Murguia added a run one batter later with an RBI infield single, putting Pomona-Pitzer up 2-0.
Springer and the Sagehen defense held strong throughout the rest of the contest, leaving five Panther runners stranded through the final five innings. Pomona-Pitzer sealed the 2-0 win with a one-two-three bottom of the seventh inning.
