Amberger, Dova, Coaching Staff Highlight Women's Water Polo All-SCIAC Awards

CLAREMONT, Calf. — Pomona-Pitzer women's water polo earned a slew of 2026 All-SCIAC Awards, the conference announced Wednesday.
 
Head Coach Alex Rodgriguez and staff were named Coaching Staff of the Year, Isabella Dova Defensive Athlete of the Year, Mia Amberger Offensive Athlete of the Year while Lauren Valentin was awarded the SCIAC Character Award. Additionally, a total of six Sagehens received All-SCIAC First and Second Team nods. 
 
Rodriguez and staff led Pomona-Pitzer to an 18-15 regular season mark in 2026, including a perfect 12-0 in SCIAC play. The Sagehens clinched their seventh straight regular season conference title, entering this week's SCIAC Tournament as the No. 1 seed. The award is Rodriguez's fifth. 
 
Dova joined former Sagehen Zosia Amberger as the only two freshmen in SCIAC history to be named Defensive Athlete of the Year after totaling 141 saves on the year and a .415 save percentage. Dova also tallied 42 steals and nine assists in goal. 
 
Amberger became the fourth consecutive Sagehen to earn SCIAC Offensive Athlete of the Year honors, scoring 50 goals in 2026 on a .427 shooting percentage. She also dished out 39 assists for a team-high 89 points. Additionally, the Santa Barbara native had 35 steals and drew 42 exclusions. 
 
Two other Sagehens joined Amberger and Dova on the All-SCIAC First Team, including Brienz Lang and Ayva Magna. Lang scored 26 goals to go with 18 assists this season while Magna posted 35 goals on a .500 shooting percentage. 
 
Sydney Bowns and Katie Hugar earned All-SCIAC Second Team nods. Bowns contributed 29 goals and 12 assists and Hugar notched 34 goals and nine assists.
