CLAREMONT, Calif. — Pomona-Pitzer men's tennis fell 5-2 to Gustavus Adolphus College before defeating Whittier 6-1 Saturday at Pauley Tennis Complex.
Season Impact: The results put the Sagehens at 4-4 on the season, including 1-0 in SCIAC play.
Sagehens 2, Gustavus Adolphus 5
Pomona-Pitzer secured the doubles point against Gustavus Adolphus, winning two of three doubles matches.
Drew Goldman and
Jay Mallampati won their match 6-1 before
Sam English and
Neil Chulani also won 6-1.
Tanner Ige posted the team's lone singles match win on Court #5. Despite falling 7-5 in the first game, Ige won game two 6-4 and game three 6-3 to secure the win.
Sagehens 6, Whittier 1
Pomona-Pitzer opened SCIAC play with a shutout over the Poets. The Sagehens won two out of three doubles matches to secure the doubles point.
John Wehrle and
Lucas Elkins won their match in straight sets on Court #3 while English and Chulani won 7-6 on Court #1.
Luke Feng won 6-1, 6-3 on Singles Court #1, on Court #2. Ige won 6-1, 6-1 on three, Wehrle won 6-2, 6-2 on four, Mallampati won 6-1, 6-1 on four and
Sam Saeed won 6-1, 6-2 on six to secure the shutout victory over the Poets.
