CLAREMONT, CA. – The Pomona-Pitzer Men's Tennis team ended the Stag-Hen tournament with a 4-3 win over Trinity (Tx) on Saturday afternoon at the Pauley Tennis Complex.
The Sagehens ended up falling behind with the Tigers earning the doubles point after taking matches at the No. 1 and No. 2 spots.
Drew Goldman and
Jay Mallampati fell 6-4 at the No. 1 doubles with
Leo Rocca and
Kiran Vairavanathan losing a tight 7-6 match at No. 2. The sole win for the doubles matches came at the No. 3 position as
Sam English and
Neil Chulani won 6-5 with the Sagehens heading into singles down 1-0.
Rocca and Chulani both fell in their matches at the No. 1 and No. 6 spots, but the Sagehens won matches 2-5 to take the win over Trinity.
Tanner Ige came away with a 6-2, 6-2 win at No. 2,
Luke Feng earned a 7-6, 6-4 win at the No. 3 spot, English won 6-4, 6-2 at 4 and capping off the win was
Ethan Zou who earned a three-set win at No. 5 by the scores of 7-6, 3-6, 6-4 to seal the win for Pomona-Pitzer.
