LA VERNE, Calif. — The Pomona-Pitzer baseball team split its Saturday doubleheader with La Verne to secure the series over the Leopards, 2-1.
Season Impact: The results put the Sagehens at 14-7 on the season, including 6-3 in SCIAC play.

Tanner DeGrazia,
Cooper Berry and
Will Parker recorded three RBI apiece to lead the team offensively with Parker going 4-of-5 from the plate.

Shawn Loui and
Brody Ruyle each posted one RBI.
Will Polishuk (4-0) earned the win from the mound after going 5.0 innings with one strikeout and just two earned runs.
La Verne took a 2-0 lead by the second inning before the Sagehens responded in the third with three runs of their own off a sac fly RBI from Pierantoni and a two-run single from Parker. Pomona-Pitzer then plated two runs in the fifth and five in the sixth to take a commanding 10-2 lead. DeGrazia blasted a three-run triple in the sixth while Berry belted a two-run shot to right field.
The Leopards scored five more runs by the eighth to come within three, 10-7. But Pomona-Pitzer answered with three in the ninth with RBI from Loui, Parker and Ruyle. La Verne plated a pair of runs in the bottom of the ninth but it wasn't enough.
Jude Hatamiya came in with the tying run on deck and struck out La Verne's Aaron Whobrey to earn the save and seal the Sagehens' 13-9 win.

Tanner DeGrazia posted two RBI to lead the Sagehen bats in a low-scoring series finale.
Lucas Dennis notched a career-high seven strikeouts in 5.2 innings of relief on the mound.
The Sagehens got on the board first with a DeGrazia RBI single driving Pierantoni home in the first. But the Leopards scored all five of their runs in the bottom of the frame to take control of the game. DeGrazia notched another RBI in the third and Loui scored in the fourth on a wild pitch. But La Verne eventually came away with the 5-3 win.
Up Next: The Sagehens will take on Chapman in a sub-varsity game at ONT Field on Wednesday, Mar. 25, before taking on Whittier in a three-game series next weekend.
