SEWANEE, TN. – The Pomona-Pitzer Sagehens women's tennis team earned a 4-1 victory over Sewanee on Sunday morning at the Farm and Forge to take 7th place in the ITA indoors.
Season Impact: The win puts the Sagehens at 3-3 on the season.
Sewanee took the doubles point after wins at No. 1 and No. 3. Pomona-Pitzer's Meha Chaudhary and Ishya Bhavsar secured a 7-6, 7-1 victory at No. 2 doubles.
Trailing 1-0, the Sagehens responded by winning four singles matches in decisive fashion. The order of finish in singles was 5, 2, 6, 3, 1. Sofia Kalyva put Pomona-Pitzer on the board first with a 6-2, 6-0 victory at No. 5 singles. Leticia Bazua Vazquez followed at No. 2 with a 7-6, 6-2 win, and Ishya Bhavsar added another point at No. 6 with a 7-6, 7-4 decision. Mireille Chedid-Daley delivered a dominant 6-1, 6-0 performance at No. 3, and Lauren Rha capped the match at No. 1 with a 6-4, 6-4 victory to secure the 4-1 team result. The Sagehens close their road trip with momentum and will return home to continue conference play.
