Baseball Drops Home Game to Whitman

CLAREMONT, Calif. — Pomona-Pitzer baseball fell 14-8 at home to Whitman College Sunday.

Season Impact: The result puts the Sagehens at 7-4 on the season, including 2-3 in SCIAC play.

Kai Gonzaga got Pomona-Pitzer on the board first in the bottom of the opening frame with a solo shot to right field. The Blues answered in the third with a grand slam before Will Parker drove Tanner DeGrazia home on a sac fly to make it 4-2. But Whitman scored the next seven to go up 11-2.

Gonzaga drew a bases loaded walk in the sixth before James Quintero scored on a wild pitch, making it 11-4. The Blues then scored the next three to go up 14-4. Gonzaga, Jack Gold, DeGrazia and Landon Hu each recorded an RBI as the Sagehens scored four runs unanswered. But it wasn't quite enough as Whitman came away with the 14-8 win.

Up Next: The Sagehens will host the University of Chicago for a three-game series next weekend. Game one will take place on Friday, Feb. 27, at 2:00 p.m. PT.
