AZUSA, Calif. – The Pomona-Pitzer Sagehens women's tennis team edged Azusa Pacific 4-3 on Saturday afternoon at the Pauley Tennis Complex.

Season Impact: The win puts the Sagehens at 1-1 on the season.

The Sagehens took control early by sweeping all three doubles matches to claim the doubles point. Lauren Rha and Leticia Bazua Vazquez earned a 6-3 win at No. 1 doubles, while Ishya Bhavsar and Meha Chaudhary matched that score with a 6-3 victory at No. 2. Annique Varty and Mireille Chedid-Daley capped the sweep with a 6-1 decision at No. 3, giving the Sagehens a 1-0 advantage heading into singles.

In singles play, the Sagehens secured three key victories to reach the four-point mark. Mireille Chedid-Daley delivered a strong 6-2, 6-2 win at No. 1 singles. Chaudhary battled in a three-set match at No. 2 to get the win for the Sagehens, pulling out a 6-4, 1-6, 7-5 victory. Tessa Ellingson added another point at No. 6 with a straight-set win.
