CLAREMONT, Calif. — Pomona-Pitzer baseball fell 12-0 at home to Kalmazoo College Sunday afternoon.
Season Impact: The result puts the Sagehens at 5-2 on the season.
Dean Hoshide made his first career start on the mound, going 3.2 innings with four strikeouts while giving up just three hits and four runs. Six different Sagehens recorded a hit on the game.
Neither team managed to plate a run through the first three innings, despite the Sagehens leaving two on base in the first and one in the second. The Hornets broke through in the fourth, scoring six to take the lead.
Pomona-Pitzer left runners on base in four of their following five half-innings, but couldn't quite manage to convert. Kalamazoo added three runs in the seventh and three in the eighth, going on to take the game, 12-0.
Up Next: The Sagehens will begin SCIAC play next weekend with a three-game series against Chapman, first taking on the Panthers Friday, Feb. 20, at 2:00 p.m. PT at Alumni Field.
