Emily Lee Reaches 1,000 Career Points, Sagehens Defeat La Verne 69-54

CLAREMONT, Calif. — Pomona-Pitzer women's basketball won 69-54 against La Verne Saturday night at home.

Season Impact: The victory puts the Sagehens at 9-6 on the season, including 4-2 in SCIAC play.

Emily Lee led the Sagehens with 19 points on 7-of-16 shooting, including four triples, while also surpassing 1,000 career points in the victory. Jadyn Lee added 15 points and a team-high six assists, Abigail Homan pulled down a team-high nine rebounds, and Shea Joko chipped in 12 points off the bench to power the Sagehen's 69-point performance.

Pomona-Pitzer jumped out early behind back-to-back three-pointers from Emily Lee and built momentum with their perimeter shooting. The Sagehens closed the quarter on a 9–2 run, with triples from J. Lee, Joko, and Sara Chicco, to take a 19–13 lead after one. The Sagehens maintained control throughout the second quarter, opening the frame with a jumper from Chicco at 9:21 before Avery Patricco finished inside at 8:29 to push the lead to eight. After La Verne cut into the margin, Patricco knocked down a three and J. Lee scored twice to keep the Sagehens in front. E. Lee and Patricco closed the half strong helping the Sagehens take a 34–28 lead into halftime.

The Sagehens opened the third quarter on a 10–2 run, sparked by fast-break finishes from both Lees, including back-to-back E. Lee triples to push the lead to double digits. Defensive pressure led to multiple steals, while Abigail Homan added points at the line and in the paint as the Sagehens stretched the advantage to as many as 18. The Sagehens maintained control throughout the quarter and took a 54–36 lead into the fourth. A Joko three and multiple free throws down the stretch steadied the Sagehens, while defensive stops and steals prevented any late momentum swing. The Sagehens closed out the game at the line to secure the 69–54 victory.

Up Next: The Sagehens continue SCIAC play on Monday, Jan. 19 on the road against Redlands. Tipoff is slated for 7:00 p.m. PT.
