Late Goal from Hong Secures 1-0 Sagehen Victory Over CMS

CLAREMONT, Calif. – Pomona-Pitzer women's soccer defeated Claremont-Mudd-Scripps 1-0 by way of a Hannah Hong goal in the 86th minute Wednesday evening.

Season Impact: The win improves the Sagehens' record to 6-0-1 overall and 2-0-1 in SCIAC play.

The Sagehens created several opportunities to score in the first half. Imogen Roy Jenkyn and Sabina Peterson Rajalingam registered shots on goal in the 4th and 11th minute marks, respectively. The Sagehen defense stayed strong as goalkeeper Patricia DePalma saved goal attempts at the 7th and 8th minute marks. Despite the strong effort, the Sagehens went into halftime in a stalemate, 0-0.

Peterson Rajalingam had an early shot in the second half at the 48-minute mark which was saved. Pomona-Pitzer's defense remained steady as goalkeeper Hadley Johnson saved six shots throughout the period. Hannah Hong scored the eventual game-winner at the 86-minute mark as Ava Watanabe set her up with an assist. Pomona-Pitzer maintained its lead through the final minutes and the Sagehens came away with the 1-0 victory.
