MEDFORD, MA. – The Pomona-Pitzer Lacrosse team had their NCAA Tournament run come to an end with their 16-8 loss to Tufts on Saturday afternoon at Bello Field.
Season Impact: With the loss, the Sagehens end their 2025 season at 18-3 overall with a trip to the round of 16 in the NCAA Tournament.
The Sagehens were led by
Caroline Welch and
Caili Cross who each had two goals in the loss while
Fiona Lewis,
Taylor Glanville,
Shoshi Henderson, and
Sydney Landauer had one.
The Jumbos jumped out to an early lead with the opening two goals until Glanville scored the opener for the Sagehens to make it 2-1 with 12:50 left in the first. Tufts took off with the lead and scored 10-straight goals to take a 12-1 lead midway through the second quarter. Pomona-Pitzer came back with back-to-back goals from Landauer and Cross to make it 12-3, but Tufts ended the first half with the final two goals to take a 14-3 lead heading into halftime.
Not a lot of scoring by either team in the third after the Sagehens were shut out but limited Tufts to just one goal to make it 15-3 heading into the fourth. The Sagehens ended their NCAA Tournament on a high note after they outscored Tufts 5-1 in the fourth with goals from Welch, Lewis and Cross, but ultimately fell to Tufts in their round of 16 matchup.
