REDLANDS, Calif. — Pomona-Pitzer softball fell 4-3 in 10 innings to Redlands Saturday as the Sagehens were eliminated from the SCIAC Tournament.
Season Impact: The loss brings the Sagehens' final overall season record to 24-15.
Brooke Bullis led the team on offense with both of Pomoma-Pitzer's RBI, while
Violet Burnham and
Emily Hurtado each tallied a pair of hits.
Devin Waddell pitched a complete game from the circle, recording five strikeouts.
The Sagehens got on the board first in the opening frame, with Bullis drawing an RBI walk to score
Bella Carreon. Bullis then drove
Kylie Liu home in the third with an RBI single to make it 2-0. Redlands, though, scored two in the fifth to tie things up, ultimately forcing extra innings.
The Bulldogs took a 3-2 lead in the top of the eighth. Down to the final out,
Marie Milton reached on a fielding error while
Jiselle Nguyen scored from second, tying the game back up at 3-3. In the end, though, Redlands homered in the 10th to go ahead and held on for the dramatic 4-3 win.
