CLAREMONT, CA – The Pomona-Pitzer Men's Tennis defeated Chapman with a score of 4-3 on Friday at home.
Season Impact: With the win, the Sagehens are 12-6 overall and 4-0 in SCIAC play.
The Pomona-Pitzer Men's Tennis edged Chapman 4-3 in a match that came down to the wire. Chapman jumped ahead early, taking two of the three doubles matches. The Panthers earned a 7-5 win at No. 1 and a narrow 7-6 victory at No. 3, while the Sagehens' Ethan Lee and Neil Chulani secured the lone doubles point with a 6-4 win at No. 2.
In singles play, the Sagehens responded with strong efforts across the board. Ethan Lee clinched it for the Sagehens and rallied for a gritty three-set win at No. 1, 5-7, 6-2, 6-4, while Andrew Andea also bounced back after a first-set loss to take the match at No. 3: 6-7, 6-1, 6-0. Sam English delivered a commanding 6-0, 6-4 win at No. 4 to help swing momentum in the Sagehens' favor. In no. 6 singles, Jay Mallampati stayed composed and took a 7-6, 6-1 victory.
