Sagehens Fall To Redlands 2-5

REDLANDS, CA – The Pomona-Pitzer Men's Tennis team lost 2-5 to Redlands Tuesday on the road.

Season Impact: With the loss, the Sagehens are now 12-8 overall and 4-2 in SCIAC conference play.

The Pomona-Pitzer Men's Tennis team fell 2-5 to the University of Redlands on Friday afternoon on the road. The Sagehens started strong in doubles, sweeping all three matches, but Redlands bounced back in singles to claim the win.

The Sagehens came out firing in doubles. At No. 1, Luke Feng and Sam English dominated with a 6-1 victory. Blake Bothmer and Jay Mallampati followed with a 6-4 win at No. 2, and Neil Chulani and Ethan Lee completed the sweep with another 6-4 win at No. 3.

Despite the early 1-0 lead, the Sagehens struggled in singles play. Redlands took control, winning five of the six matches. Ethan Lee dropped a tough match at No. 1 singles, 3-6, 2-6. Andrew Andea fell 2-6, 5-7 at No. 2, while Luke Feng was defeated 1-6, 4-6 at No. 3. Sam English battled at No. 4 but came up short 6-7, 4-6. The lone singles win for Pomona-Pitzer came from Neil Chulani, who earned a tight 7-5, 7-6 victory at No. 5. At No. 6, John Wehrle forced a third set but fell 4-6, 6-1, 1-6.

Up Next: The Sagehens will head out to Texas to take on Southwestern University on Friday, April 18th at 10:00 am (CDT).
