WHITTIER, Calif. — Pomona-Pitzer baseball split its road doubleheader with Whittier College Saturday but took the three-game series, 2-1, over the Poets.
Season Impact: The results move the Sagehens to 14-9 on the season, including 6-6 in SCIAC play.

Despite only being out-hit 9-7, the Sagehens left nine on base in a 10-1 game one loss to the Poets.
Greg Pierantoni led the offense with a pair of hits in four at-bats while
Xavier Hattenburg notched the team's lone RBI.
Jack Wiessinger was credited with the loss after going 5.0 innings with four strikeouts and seven hits.
The Poets jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the second inning fueled by a three-run homer. They extended their lead to 7-0 in the fifth before Hattenburg drove in
JC Ng in the sixth with a sac fly to put the Sagehens on the board. Whittier, though, scored one run in each the sixth and seventh innings, taking game one 10-1.

Pomona-Pitzer's bats came alive in the second game of the day, as the team out-hit the Poets 17-8.
Carson Evans and
Sammy Lee posted four hits apiece while
Cooper Berry went 3-5 from the plate. Pierantoni tallied a team-best two RBIs.
Wade Lawson earned the win on the mound, going 2.0 innings with just one hit while
Justin Zerger earned the save, giving up just one hit in 1.0 innings of work.
The Sagehens got on the board first with a Pierantoni RBI single through the left side scoring Ng. Whittler responded with three runs over the next three innings, going up 3-1. But Pomona-Pitzer answered back with an Evans RBI in the fourth and Ng scoring on an error in the seventh, tying the game at 3-3.
Neither team could close it out in nine innings, but the Sagehens opened the 10th with an offensive barrage.
Lateef Wakil broke the tie with an RBI single through the right side, before an Ng sac fly scored
George Nahabedian. Pierantoni then posted another RBI and Hattenburg singled through the left side to score Berry, putting the Sagehens up 7-3.
Whittier managed to get two runs back in the bottom of the 10th but it wasn't enough, as Pomona-Pitzer came away with the 7-5 win in extras.
Up Next: The Sagehens will take on Lewis & Clark College in their final non-conference bout of the regular season next weekend at home. Pomona-Pitzer will first host the Pioneers on Friday, Apr. 4, at 3:00 p.m. PT before playing a doubleheader Saturday.
