CLAREMONT, CA. – The Pomona-Pitzer Men's Tennis team fell to Christopher Newport 4-3 on Sunday afternoon at the Pauley Tennis Complex.
The Sagehens started the day dropping two of the three doubles matches to give Christopher Newport the 1-0 lead.
Drew Goldman and
Leo Rocca took the only doubles win of the day as the duo earned a 6-1 win.
Ethan Lee and
Neil Chulani dropped their match at the No. 2 position 6-2 while Jayanth Mallampati and
Blake Bothmer fell 6-3.
After heading into singles down a point, the Sagehens came back with wins at No. 1 and No. 3 singles. Lee went on to win at No. 1, 6-2, 6-3 with Feng winning at No. 3, 6-0, 6-4.
CNU won at No. 6 as Rocca fell 6-0. 7-6, but the Sagehens got another win with
Andrew Andea winning a three-set match 6-1, 3-6, 6-2.
The Sagehens went on to drop the final two singles matches to Christopher Newport.
Sam English lost at No. 4 singles in three sets 6-4, 5-7, 0-6 and
John Wehrle ended the day with a loss at No. 5, 6-4, 6-7, 7-6.
