No. 8 Sagehens Fall 9-4 in Game Three Against No. 10 ETBU

CLAREMONT, Calif. — No. 8 Pomona-Pitzer baseball fell 9-4 to No. 10 East Texas Baptist Sunday afternoon at Alumni Field in game three of the three-game series. The Sagehens still come away with the series win after winning games one and two Saturday.

Pomona-Pitzer was led offensively by Cooper Berry, who went 3-4 with a pair of doubles and two RBIs. JC Ng went 1-3 with a double as well while Kai Gonzaga, Greg Pierantoni and William Kinney each recorded singles. William Wallace started the day on the mound for the Sagehens and went 3.0 innings, allowing just one run off four hits and fanning two.

Berry and Pomona-Pitzer started the game hot, as Berry doubled down the right field line in the first inning to drive in Pierantoni and Ng. Jimmy Legg added to the Sagehens' lead in the second, 3-0, after scoring from third on a wild pitch.

ETBU answered with a run in the third before Pierantoni drove in Kinney on a groundout to first in the fourth inning, as Pomona-Pitzer took a 4-1 advantage. The Tigers, though, responded with a run in the fifth before taking the lead with a five-run seventh inning. ETBU would go on to tack on an insurance run in the eighth, eventually coming away with the 9-4 lead. The Sagehens' Eamonn Woods was credited with the loss.
