MEMPHIS, TN. – The Pomona-Pitzer Women's Tennis team earned a win in their first game of the ITA Indoor National Championship with a 4-3 win over John Hopkins on Friday morning at the Leftwich Tennis Center.
The Sagehens started down on the scoreboard losing two of the three doubles.
Marissa Markey and
Meha Chaudhary fell in a tiebreaker 7-6 (7-1) as the deciding match with Amelai Poor and
Nyakiriri Kanefu winning their match 6-4 and
Sofia Kalyva and
Annique Varty falling 6-4.
After going down 0-1, the Sagehens won 4 of the six singles matches to earn the win.
Leticia Bazua Vazquez on in a three-set match by retirement with scores of 4-6, 6-0, 3-0.
Angie Zhou won at No. 1 singles 6-3, 6-2 with Kanefu winning at No. 4 6-1, 6-3.

Lauren Rha won at No. 2 4-6, 6-3, 6-2 to put the Sagehens into the Semifinals of the ITA Indoor National Championships
