NEWPORT BEACH, CA. – The Pomona-Pitzer Women's Water Polo team ended the Barbara Kalbus Invitational with a 14-8 win over Biola.
Season Impact: With the win, the Sagehens improved to 3-5 overall.
The Sagehens were led by
Mia Amberger who netted a hat-trick with three goals in the win.
Sydney Bianchi and Syndey Bowns both had multi-goal games with two while
Ayva Magna,
Lisbon Zeigler,
Brienz Lang,
Nikki Rubottom,
Layla Szymczak,
Lulu Gaither, and
Paityn Richardson had one.
Amberger got the Sagehens out with the opening goal before Biola netted back-to-back goals to take the lead. The Sagehens came back with two of the final three goals of the first from Richardson and Zeigler to take a 3-3 score into the second.
Amberger and Bowns scored the only two goals of the second quarter to put the Sagehens up 5-3 at the half.
Pomona-Pitzer's offense got going in the second half with four goals in the third and five in the fourth. Lang Bianchi, Rubottom, and Bianchi helped the Sagehens to a 9-6 lead heading into the fourth and then closed the game out with goals from Gaither, Magna, Szymczak, Bowns and Amberger to grab a win to end the Barbara Kalbus Invitational.
