CLAREMONT, Calif. — Pomona-Pitzer men's water polo fell 9-4 at CMS in the USA Water Polo National Championship Game Sunday.
After falling behind 2-0 in the first, the Sagehens fought back in the second to tie the game at 2-2.
Max Distaso found the back of the net with 3:10 left in the period before
Darragh Flanders scored with 40 seconds remaining. The Stags scored one more before the half, taking a 3-2 lead at the break.
Jaden Winters scored six minutes into the third period to tie things back up at 3-3. Teams then traded a goal each, as a
Jake Lee score tied the game at 4-4 heading into the final quarter. But CMS seized control down the stretch, scoring the game's final five goals to seal the 9-4 win.
