Box Score CLAREMONT, Calif. — Pomona-Pitzer advanced to the USA Water Polo National Championship game with an 11-7 win over MIT in the semifinals Saturday.
The Sagehens will take on host CMS tomorrow, Sunday, Dec. 7, at 12:00 p.m. PT in the championship game.
Zach Whitfield,
Nico Perna and
Indigo Lee led Pomona-Pitzer with two goals apiece, while
Jaden Winters,
Conrad Hugar,
Max Distaso,
Alden Pfau and
Ryan Kreutzkamp each added one.
Greg Moore posted 11 saves and a steal in goal.
Indigo Lee opened the scoring with two goals in the first quarter, and Whitfield added another as the Sagehens led 3-2 at the end of the period. MIT tied things up at 4-4 in the second, but a pair of goals from Perna and another from Whitfield gave Pomona-Pitzer a 7-4 advantage at the half.
The Sagehens maintained a 10-6 lead following the third, as Pfau, Kreutzkamp and Winters tallied scores in the period. Distaso added one more in the fourth as the Sagehens held on for the 11-7 victory.
