Sagehens Fall Short to Redlands in SCIAC Semifinals, 2–1

REDLANDS, Calif. — Despite a late surge and a last-minute goal from Seb Lee Jara, the Pomona-Pitzer men's soccer team came up just short in a 2–1 road loss to Redlands on Thursday night.

After a scoreless opening stretch, Redlands struck first in the 19th minute. The Sagehens battled to equalize before halftime, with Alex Greenstein and Niclas Ulrich each testing the keeper and Jasper Broad keeping the Sagehens within reach with multiple saves including key stops in the 28th and 34th minutes.

In the second half, the Sagehens came out firing. Ulrich forced a save less than a minute into play (45:38), followed by a strong effort from Aidan MacLennan just moments later. Redlands doubled its lead in the 75th minute to make it 2–0. Pomona-Pitzer refused to back down, mounting pressure in the final 15 minutes. Ulrich and MacLennan both saw close-range chances denied before the breakthrough finally came.

In the 89th minute, Lee Jara buried a goal from inside the box off a perfectly placed assist from Yang, cutting the deficit to one. The Sagehens continued to press in stoppage time, earning another corner at 89:59, but couldn't find the equalizer before the final whistle.

This matchup marked the conclusion of the 2025 season, one that saw remarkable progress under first-year head coach Clint Moore, who was named SCIAC Coach of the Year after guiding the Sagehens to a third-place finish in the conference. Pomona-Pitzer entered the season projected last in the preseason poll, but defied expectations through consistent relentlessness. Individually, Nico Ulrich earned First Team All-SCIAC honors, while Chris Chow and Aidan MacLennan were selected to the Second Team All-SCIAC.
