CLAREMONT, Calif. — Pomona-Pitzer men's water polo head coach
Alex Rodriguez was named SCIAC Coaching Staff of the Year while
Greg Moore earned Defensive Athlete of the Year and
Jaden Winters Newcomer of the Year, the conference announced Wednesday.
Additionally, a total of four Sagehens were dubbed All-SCIAC First Team members, including Moore, Winters,
Zach Whitfield and
Darragh Flanders.
Rodriguez and the Sagehen bench were recognized as SCIAC Coaching Staff of the Year after leading Pomona-Pitzer to an unbeaten 12-0 mark in conference play with a league high-tying four First Team All-SCIAC selections. The accolade is Rodriguez' second straight and fourth overall.
Moore earned a handful of SCIAC Defensive Athlete of the Week accolades in stopping a conference-best 54 percent of shots faced, ranking second in the league with 102 saves across just nine appearances.
Newcomer of the Year recognition went to fellow Sagehen
Jaden Winters, who led the regular season champions to an unbeaten 12-0 mark with 35 goals and 49 total points. The natural center defender played all over the pool for Pomona-Pitzer while also racking up 16 steals, 11 drawn exclusions and a 9-for-10 record on sprints.
