Men's Basketball Gets Past Puget Sound on the Road

TACOMA, Wash. — Pomona-Pitzer men's basketball earned its first win of the season with an 87-79 victory at Puget Sound Saturday evening. 
 
Season Impact: The win puts the Sagehens at 1-1 on the 2025-26 campaign. 
 
Matthew Diekmann scored a career-high 20 points to lead the Pomona-Pitzer offense, adding five boards. Kyle Jasper also dropped a career-high 17 points to go with four assists while Charlie Hutchison had 16 points and eight boards. Sam Lind added 14 points while Cooper Bladow had 10. 
 
The Sagehens got out to a quick 10-5 lead after a Diekmann triple. A three from Lind later made it 21-13. Jasper hit a three of his own late in the first half and a two-point jumper as the Sagehens took a 35-30 lead into the locker room. 
 
Pomona-Pitzer expanded its lead to 10, 47-37, after a fast break lay-in from Hutchison. Connor Fitzgerald hit a three before Bladow scored in the paint to make it 63-58 Sagehens. Jasper later hit three free throws to put the Sagehens back up 10, 77-67, with 4:07 to go. 
 
Diekmann, Jasper and Lind hit free throws down the stretch as Pomona-Pitzer managed to keep Puget Sound at bay and secure the 87-79 win. 
 
Up Next: The Sagehens will host their home opener versus Whitman next Saturday, Nov. 22, at 3:00 p.m. PT.
