CLAREMONT, CA. – The Pomona-Pitzer Baseball team earned multiple All-West Region Honors from Rawlings ABCA/D3Baseball.com highlighted by West Player of the Year in
Isaac Kim and West Region Coach of the Year,
Frank Pericolosi.
The Sagehens earned a total of seven All-West selections with Km,
JC Ng,
Jake Hilton, and
Hannoh Seo earning First Team All-West honors and
Nate Jakobs,
Greg Pierantoni, and
Eric Prough earning Second Team All-West.
Head Coach
Frank Pericolosi earned West Region Coach of the Year after leading the Sagehens to their most successful season in program history with the team's first-ever trip to the NCAA Division III College World Series. Along the way, the Sagehens have tied a program record for wins with 37, captured their first-ever NCAA Super Regional Championship, and earned the program's first-ever SCIAC Tournament Championship.
Kim earned both D3Baseball.com and ABCA West Player of the Year after putting together one of the best seasons in Pomona-Pitzer Baseball history. Kim is batting .443 this season with 17 homer runs and 79 RBI. Kim is slugging an incredible .856 and became the first SCIAC player to hit for the cycle in an NCAA Tournament game with a 5-5 performance in the NCAA Super Regional against East Texas Baptist.
Ng also earned First Team All-West Honors after leading the Sagehens from the top of the lineup and playing an incredible center field on defense. Ng has already set the single-season record for Runs this year with 71 and is chasing the single-season record for Hits with 82. Ng is hitting .434 with nine home runs and 49 RBI to go along with 44 walks for an OB% of .556.
Pomona-Pitzer's one-two punch in the rotation also earned First Team All-West honors with Hilton and Seo getting the nod as starting pitchers. Hilton has been the Sagehens' ace all season long compiling a 9-2 record with a 2.71 ERA and 90 strikeouts. Seo has tied the single season record for wins with his 10-1 record as a starter. Seo leads the Sagehens with 93 strikeouts and has a 2.33 ERA.
Capping off the Sagehen pitching accolades was Prough getting Second Team All-West Honors as the Sagehen closer. Prough was a reliable arm coming out of the bullpen to close out games this season. He currently has five saves this season with a 2.08 ERA and a record of 6-3.
Jakobs and Pierantoni both earned Second Team All-West Honors this season as crucial bats in the lineup. Jakobs earned the distinction as a right fielder and gave the Sagehens a big power lefty bat in the middle of the lineup. Jakobs is hitting .337 this season with 12 home runs and 43 RBI.
Pierantoni is having a fabulous freshman season for the Sagehens as the three batter in the lineup and the Sagehens shortstop in the infield. Pierantoni is hitting .367 with 76 hits, 14 doubles, 54 RBI and 49 runs scored.
