ORANGE, CA. – The Pomona-Pitzer Men's tennis team earned back-to-back wins in the SCIAC with a 6-3 win over Chapman on Friday afternoon at Anderson Tennis Center.
Season Impact: with the win, the Sagehens improved to 7-11 overall and 2-0 in SCIAC play.
The Sagehens got out to a great start as they took all three of the doubles matches to start the day.
Sam English and
Owen Kelley started strong as they took an 8-2 win at the No. 2 doubles spot while
Matthew Feng and
Eshaan Lumba and
Neil Chulani and
Ethan Lee both came away with 8-6 victories to head into singles with the Sagehens up 3-0.
Pomona-Pitzer needed just two matches to clinch and went on to win three over Chapman with wins at the No. 2, No. 3, and No. 5 singles matches. Lee earned another win at the No.2 singles beating his opponent 6-2, 6-1 while English also doubled his wins on the day with a win at No. 5 singles, 6-1, 6-2. Feng ended the day for the Sagehens with a win at the No. 3 position by the scores of 6-3, 6-3 as the Sagehens moved to 2-0 in conference play this season.
