Jachung, Amberger And La Highlight All-SCIAC Awards

CLAREMONT, CA. – The Pomona-Pitzer Women's Water Polo team came away with four All-SCIAC athletes highlighted by Offensive Athlete of the Year Namlhun Jachung, Defensive Athlete of the Year Zosia Amberger, and Coaching Staff of the Year led by Alex La.
 
Jachung picked up her third major SCIAC award of her career with her second consecutive SCIAC Athlete of the Year selection as well as named Newcomer of the Year In 2022.  Jachung led the Sagehens to another SCIAC Regular Season Championship this season leading the squad in points (62) and drew 49 exclusions in all competitions.
 
Amberger earned her second SCIAC Defensive Athlete of the Year award of her career after recording 221 saves this season and 36 steals.  Amberger and the Sagehen defense have only allowed 4.83 goals per game this season while Amberger also earned her 600th career save earlier in the year.
 
Head Coach of the 2024 season, Alex La, picked up SCIAC Coach of the Year honors leading the Sagehens to their fifth-straight SCIAC Regular Season Title with a perfect 14-0 conference record.
 
The Sagehens also had one other First Team All-SCIAC selection in Abigail Wiesenthal along with Second Team All-SCIAC selection Brienz Lang.
 
Wiesenthal led the Sagehens with 42 goals this season playing in front of the cage with 48 points and six assists. She led the team in all competitions with 56 drawn exclusions and 23 steals on the defensive end.
 
Lang made her way onto the Second Team All-SCIAC list after a season that saw 61 points off of 39 goals and 22 assists. Lang only trailed Jachung in points this season and managed to earn 23 steals as well on defense.
