CLAREMONT, CA. – The No. 19 Pomona-Pitzer Men's Tennis team came away with a clean sweep in their 9-0 win over SCIAC opponent Cal Lutheran on Friday afternoon at the Pauley Tennis Complex.
Season Impact: with the win, the Sagehens improved to 10-11 overall and 5-0 in SCIAC play with their five-straight win on the season.
The Sagehens stated the day sweeping the doubles competition with all three wins.
Eshaan Lumba and
Matthew Feng edged out a close 8-6 win at the No. 1 spot while
Sam English and
Owen Kelley won their match 8-3 at No. 2. The No. 3 doubles of
Neil Chulani and
Ethan Lee didn't drop a single game as they went through with an 8-0 win to give the Sagehens all three doubles points heading into singles play.
It was more of the same for Pomona-Pitzer in the singles matches as they took all six matches over the Kingsmen.
John Wehrle came away with a clean sweep of 6-0, 6-0 at the No. 6 spot while Feng won comfortably at No. 3 6-4, 6-1.
Chulani also doubled his wins on the day with a 6-4, 6-3 win at the No. 5 singles and Lumba also won in straight sets, 6-0, 7-6 at the No. 2 position.
The Sagehens ended the day with two three-set wins as Lee earned a victory at the No. 1 spot by the scores of 6-4, 4-6, 10-2 and English at No. 4 4-6, 6-0, 6-1.
