CLAREMONT, CA. – The Pomona-Pitzer Men's Tennis team came away with a 6-3 win over non-conference opponent Kenyon College on Friday afternoon at the Pauley Tennis Complex.
Season Impact: with the win, the Sagehens improved to 4-4 on the year.
The Sagehens started out strong taking all three of the doubles matches against the Owls. Similar results at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles as the teams of
Eshaan Lumba and
Matthew Feng won 8-3 at the No. 1 spot while
John Wehrle and
Neil Chulani also took an 8-3 victory at the No. 3 position to get the Sagehens out to a 2-0 start. Pomona-Pitzer went on to sweep doubles as
Owen Kelley and
Sam English grinded out a close 8-7 win at No. 2 doubles to put the Sagehens up big at 3-0 heading into singles play.
Two matches ended by way of retirement to give each team a point as
Ethan Lee was forced to retire at No. 3 singles while English earned a win by way of retirement at No. 4 singles.
The Sagehens went on to get their match winners at No. 5 and No. 6 singles as
Rohun Krishnan made quick work of his opponent with a 6-1, 6-0 victory and Chulani doubled up on his wins for the day with a tight 7-5 win in set one and a 6-2 win to give the Sagehens a 6-3 victory over Kenyon College.
